SINGAPORE: Kelab Alami (KA) crew participated at the 13th International Seagrass Conference and International Seagrass Biological Workshop 13 - Translating Science into Action at the National University of Singapore (NUS) from 15th to 17th June. This event was supported by DHI Water & Environment, the National Parks Board, and the National University of Singapore. KA co-founder Dr Serina Rahman presented a paper on "Socio-economic valuation of seagrass meadows in the Pulai River Estuary through a well-being lens" while KA graduate Nur Syazwani bt Ali presented "From environmental education to community capacity-building: Kelab Alami and community engagement through seagrass" and took questions from the floor. Fellow KA peer Arif Aiman Bin Mohd Fazail presented "Citizen science mapping of the seagrass of Merambong Island, Johor, Malaysia" to Dr Alana Grech, the Assistant Director of the ARC Centre of Excellence for Coral Reef Studies, James Cook University, Australia. Dr Grech's research uses spatial analysis to assess the impact of human activities on coastal and marine ecosystems, and conservation planning to inform and facilitate natural resource management.
